Music Festivals

Houston’s music festival scene is packed with events that bring together huge lineups, massive crowds, and some of the best live performances across multiple genres. Astroworld Festival, created by Travis Scott, is one of the biggest festivals to hit the city, drawing massive crowds for a weekend filled with hip-hop, rap, and surprise guest performances. While its future has been uncertain, it set the bar high for large-scale music events in Houston.

Free Press Summer Fest (FPSF) was once a staple in the city’s festival lineup, bringing indie, rock, and electronic acts to outdoor stages, but newer events have taken its place. In Bloom Music Festival followed a similar format, featuring artists across alternative, electronic, and pop genres, making it a must-attend for fans looking for variety in their festival experience.

Buzzfest, held at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, is a must for rock and alternative music fans. Featuring some of the biggest names in the genre, this long-running festival has brought bands like Shinedown, Papa Roach, and The Offspring to Houston’s rock fans. For country lovers, The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo isn’t just about bull riding—it’s also one of the biggest music events of the year, with top country, pop, and hip-hop artists taking the stage throughout the event’s run.

Day For Night was one of the most unique festivals Houston has hosted, blending music with immersive art installations and a lineup that ranged from electronic music pioneers to experimental indie artists. While it hasn’t returned in recent years, it left a lasting impression on the city’s festival scene. Something Wicked brought Halloween-themed electronic music festival vibes to Houston, while Freaky Deaky has kept the party going with massive EDM performances around the same time of year.

From large-scale festivals to niche events catering to specific genres, Houston has something for every music fan. Whether it’s a weekend-long celebration of hip-hop, a rock festival with high-energy performances, or an EDM event with some of the world’s biggest DJs, the city’s festival lineup keeps growing, making it a prime destination for live music lovers.
